A bit of notions
Recycled polyester

In 1993 Patagonia was the first outdoor clothing company to adopt fleece made from recycled plastic bottles, taking an important step towards a more sustainable system, able to exploit fewer resources, reduce waste and, even better, worry about health of people.

We recycle used soda bottles, unusable second-choice fabrics and discarded items (including Patagonia) and we transform them into polyester fibers to produce many of our garments. Today, with recycled polyester we produce a greater number of clothing items, such as Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets and board shorts, as well as fleece garments.

The use of recycled polyester reduces the dependence on oil as a source of raw materials, avoids waste - hence the use of landfills - reduces toxic emissions from incinerators and helps promote a new recycling system for polyester garments no longer usable.
